HR GENERALIST

Are you looking for new growth opportunities? Would you like to be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial team? As one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, the Fresh Direct Produce Group (FDPG) is looking for an integral HR practitioner for our Islands West Manufacturers Victoria office

As our island HR Generalist, reporting to the HR Director at our Vancouver head office, you will utilize your solid HR experience and solutions-drive mindset to manage the day-to-day HR responsibilities and work with the FDPG HR Team to ensure HR programs and functions are carried out and maintained.  A demonstrated high level of maturity, discretion, and exceptional relationship-building abilities are critical.  Note that this is an on-site role performing a blend of HR functions and some administration. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing full-cycle recruitment, from job descriptions to onboarding new hires
  • Preparing employee-related documentation and communicating with the manager and Payroll Team
  • In conjunction with the HR Team, supporting the execution of strategies, programs and initiatives to drive organizational change
  • Guiding and collaborating with our leaders to resolve staffing matters
  • Coordinating and executing internal and external training programs
  • Educating and advising staff on HR policies and programs
  • Assisting with investigations, WorkSafe claims, rates, and occupational health and safety procedures and reports
  • Collaborating with other committee members in organizing company and employee activities
  • Providing some administrative support to senior management activities

Your qualifications include:

  • Min four years in progressive HR roles, a minimum of two years with Generalist experience
  • College or university graduate in Human Resources Management, CPHR designation is preferred
  • Previous experience guiding managers with respect to, e.g., employee relations, disciplinary action, performance management issues
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding critical thinking and needs analysis abilities
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Windows
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset
