As one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Fresh Direct Produce is looking for an energetic and proactive Accounting Specialist - AP team player to join our dynamic Vancouver team!

This full-time position reports to the Assistant Accounting Manager and is responsible for handling day-to-day account payable activities within the department, as well as processing and monitoring the payments in an effective and efficient manner. The successful candidate will be a strong team collaborator, able to work independently, and has solid analytical thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate input of A/P data
• Prepare journal entries for the daily petty cash expenses
• Verify appropriate expense allocation to departments and general ledger accounts.
• Organize cheque runs and arrange payments
• Handle vendor inquires
• Ensure payments are allocated in a timely manner
• Filing vendor invoices
• Follow the account payable procedure to process the invoices
• Communicate effectively with Buying & Sales Department to resolve P.O. claims & price discrepancies
• Review daily cargo receipts & inform buyer of any quality issues
• Notify inventory group for data entry/receiving department – errors on cargo receipts
• Reconcile various vendor account balances
• Assist in the A/R department when needed such as processing statements, entering payments, etc.
• Back up for Data Entry/Cashier/IT as and when required
• Other accounting related duties as assigned by the Assistant Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

• 2+ years proven ability to lead others in a high-volume AP department
• Holder of an accounting certificate/diploma and 2nd level CGA/CMA or equivalent progressive accounting designation is advantageous
• Intermediate Excel & technical competency
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
• Knowledge of Cantonese and Mandarin an asset
