Our team is looking for a tenacious and savvy Produce Buyer to procure the freshest produce and to help us develop and maintain existing accounts. This is a great opportunity for hunters to utilize their excellent negotiation skills, communication and relationship-building abilities, and solutions-driven attitude, to name a few.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Procurement:

• Procuring a select basket of fresh produce from B.C., the U.S. and Mexico
• Negotiating price and claims concessions to ensure their basket of produce commodities is competitive in the marketplace, providing optimal margins for the company.
• Sourcing new suppliers for key produce items and ensuring suppliers are reliable and provide quality products.
• Communicating to the Sales Team current market intel (pricing, supply, quality, trends…) gathered from existing customers and business development activities.
• Collaborating with other departments and units to ensure business needs are supported.

Retail Sales:

• Sourcing and securing new accounts and managing existing relationships to achieve profitable sales growth.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers by analyzing and helping them determine their right product mix.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 2 years of solid hands-on buying or selling experience in the produce industry preferred.
• University or College business degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Ability to work independently and within a procurement and sales team environment.
• Basic computer literacy in MS Office 365.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract (Drivers N abstract & personal insurance discount).
