Work in a team-based setting, operating various equipment and/or performing tasks that contribute to the production of high-quality spice items. Ensuring production targets are met in a timely fashion, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Requires a variety of physical tasks in the repacking, blending, and labeling of spices. The job demands strict policies to prevent cross-contamination as our spice products contain many CFIA recognized allergen ingredients. The use of restricted packing areas as well as individually assigned tools.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work within a team to produce spice items for the foodservice and retail markets.
- Learn to use scales, measuring instruments, food processors, and packaging equipment.
- Help ensure that the quality and freshness of spice products is always maintained throughout the department.
- Employees must follow company policy regarding the production of spices and the proper use of equipment. Including:
- Preparation of all spice products including blending, weighing, repacking, and labeling as needed.
- Clean and sanitize spice areas between product switch overs and at shift end.
- Equipment safety.
- Critical Control Points of allergens.
- Must understand and work within all HACCP policies and procedures.
- Operate or perform other duties as directed by the Lead Hand/Production Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(Minimum acceptable qualifications, experience & personal qualities required by the job holder)
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (English).
- Ability to safely bend, twist and lift to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Ability to walk and stand for the duration of scheduled shift.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.
- Food Safe Level 1
- Hepatitis A Vaccination
